Intermittent squeaking from driver side wheel - causes?
Hey guys,
I recently got a 94' GS300 with 139k miles. Despite the miles, the car is in great shape and has been very well maintained.
I had no issues the first month of owning it, but as of recently, the front driver's side wheel squeaks - like a rusty hamster wheel, sporadically. It comes and goes, and stops when I brake.
The pads look pretty old...I'm assuming this is just a matter of worn out brake pads? I was under the impression that the brake pad sensor makes that noise when you brake though. This noise happens when I'm moving, usually going away at higher speeds, then stops when i hit the brakes.
I know it's not a wheel bearing or anything. It's not a high pitched hum or steady squeaking noise. It's a squeal that comes and goes.
Simply a brake pad fix? I can leave the rotors as is? They look alright.

check to see that the backing plate etc are all clear of the rotor etc....
jack up car and spin wheel n s if u hear the noise.....
u can eve n take off the wheel n spin the rotor to see if u hear it (it RWd so front wheels will move freely...lol)

Check your brakes. The metal pieces on the brake pads will make that kind of noise but go away when you hit the brakes. You should be able to shine a light in the opening of the wheel and see roughly how your brake pads look. Although you wont be able to see the inner pads unless you lift the car up.
