Default 94 GS300 ecu swap question

Long story short the ecu in the car is a Cali emissions ecu, I ordered the proper ecu that's the same part number as what is supposed to be in my car but when I plug it in and turn the key the check engine light doesn't come on at all. My question is does the new ecu require some sort of procedure to install it or is it a brick?

not sure why the CEL doesn't come on when you turn the key. If it starts the car, then it shouldn't be a brick. If I recall correctly, the check engine light should blink when ignition timing is being checked.

Yeah, it doesn't start the car at all. I just wanted to double check that there wasn't any special procedure I needed to perform.

ya, doesn't sound like it works. no special procedure really, but just wait a few minutes when you disconnect the battery, connect the ECU and reconnect the battery

ok my bad.....

i was thinking that maybe you would bridged the necessary pics to see if it would actually come on.

pins to bridge are TE1 and TE terminals
Next, turn the ignition key to the "ON" position while observing the check engine light which will start to flash. (hopefully it comes on)

other than that. there was a video but it was for an es300 where the same pins were bridged and left for about 1/2 hour after which everything was good...

I was looking for it and couldn't find it...

also, when unplugging or reconnecting the ecu. just disconnect the battery as well....

Did you make sure the connectors are plugged all the way in and the double connector has the bolt threaded all the way in? If it isnt threaded all the way in, it wont be making good contact.

Yeah, I've tried it several different times and I end up with the same result. I'm already getting it swapped with another ecu

ok.. sorry for taking lon to reply.

not sure if u have sorted this out as yet.......

i recently acquired a computer for my car (non-cali spec)...
when i installed new computer..... car wouldnt start... it actually sounded like my engine was jammed..
i put on the old computer again and it was the same thing....

then i did a google search and the procedure i followed was as follows...

with the old computer still in the car.....

- disconnect battery and wait 5 min
- disconnect old computer and wait 15 min
- install new computer and connect battery and wait 10 min
- turn on ignition (dont start the car) and ensure check engine light is on and wait another 10 min (with ignition on)
- switch off and wait 5 min
- start car.....
and boom. car started

my issue now is after all that and my car starts n runs like crap (i have a few things to check including changing injectors because a few of em are stuck i assume n servicing car).....

when i try to see if there is a error code on the computer (connecting E1 and TE1 on any of the diagnostic ports)....
My CHECK ENGINE light just constantly blinks !!!

any ideas about that one ????

another thing i wanted to mention is that... after installing new oxygen sensors etc n all.... my check engine light was constantly on with the old computer..... n i dont really trust that computer either...
got the new computer from someone here n it came fro ma running car.......installed it and now my check engine light is gone n all
