I don't know if this question has been answered with a straight answer before but I have searched and searched and haven't found a straight answer. My question is: Can you swap the 3.133 gear set off a TT MT supra into a 1GS3? I son't know if the differentials are different or if they are not compatible. I have heard the TT AT diff. going in but what about just the gears. obviously if this is possible I would change out the bearings since the case is open. Thank you for all of the info in advance. I hope that my question can be answered with a straight question. I am hoping to do a JDM 2JZGTE swap soon but I would like to do this to increase the fuel economy because 22 mpg combined isn't exactly great so with swapping the gears I hope to achieve 3 to 4 mpg's. My 96 Camaro gets 30 mpg hwy, it has the 350, around 24 to 26 combined it also has a smaller tank. Just comparing again thank you for all your help.

it depends what series diff you have. you can swap than A series diff out of a supra or soarer into the GS's but if its a B series diff you can't. the A series has a 8" crown wheel for memory and the B series has an 8.5". you'll have to check the axle codes on both cars to see if they are compatible. hope that helps

is there a way to buy just the ring and pinion, I know they make them for GM but I have yet to find anyone that will sell them. I don't have the other differential yet but I will take a look at mine and let you know.

So I got my car up on a lift today to look at the differential and noticed there were some numbers on the cooling fins part or the back and there was a number 1 on the bottom middle the numbers were 1803C48 or something like that couldn't make them out very well, didn't see any others. I did measure it but I can't confirm the correct measurement. I took some pics, don't know if will help.

ok so could i swap a complete rear differential? I know I would have to buy the whole rear end but is it possible? I don't want to be like everyone and get the 3.77's although that might be the way I have to go. Thank you for your response and thank you for any more information that you might have.

You can swap whole the 'Big housing' 8.7" USDM 6-spd 3.13 and JDM Pre-96 8.7" 3.26 into the car, but you need to use the axleshafts that come with it, and the 3 bolt pattern on the pinion flange is too big for your driveshaft so you need to swap the flange from your 8" small housing onto it.

As for ringsets to fit your existing pumpkin you can use 96+ JDM 6spd 3.26, JDM/USDM AUTO 3.76, JDM/USDM 4.08
