Length of R154 shifter extension for First Generation GS300?
Does anyone know how much the Mk3 Supra (MA70) R154 shifter must be extended for a 1st gen GS300 (JZS147)?
I've spent some time searching CL, but I haven't been able to find this information.

True, especially since there's a manual '95 Soarer sitting next to the '95 Aristo on my drive, so I can at least measure the Aristo against that , but I thought I'd ask in case someone already had the info. R154s are more and more difficult to find over here, but if you do find one it will be out of an MA70, Soarer 'boxes make hens' teeth look common.

I just finished extending mine last week. I extended mine 6" and it just makes it into the exhisting cutout for the auto shifter. My shifter itself has a swan neck in it and it leans a bit to far back for me. I am going to straighten out the bends or or get the staight one and it will be perfect. I have seen other extensions from 5" to 8" here on the forums.

Check out my swap thread highdunk.. I think a 6" extension would fit the shifter in place of the stock auto hole, but unless you have a straight up and down shifter it might be a tad uncomfortable. Mine was left with a stock soarer shifter housing on it which lengthens it like 3" total with the swan of the shifter and I made it possible to do this. Here's the final placement.

re: the best length
The max is 6 inch extension which totally equals 8 inches total in the original auto whole. The one thing you have to be aware of the geometric position of the shifter or you will not be able to get the transmission in 5 at high speeds.
