How many miles are the stock engines good for??
I'm pretty new to the club and i have a stock 93 gs300 and I'm at 200,000 and I was thinking about swappin it out for a 2je-gte!! I figured 200,000 is really close to the end so I figured I'd ask you guys how far have you guys pushed your stock engines!!
Another thing that I wanted to ask about was I went to the L-parts.com and they have a 2je-gte but its a small block!! And I dont know much about lexus engines but in domestic older model muscles they come in big block & small block!! If its the same for lexus' then I would want the big block but I'm just trying to get a better understanding!!

i dont know about the whole big block small block thing....., but anyway.......ive owned two first gens over the last 14 years, both 1994's and my first one was at 288,000 miles when i totaled it, and it was still running perfectly (perfect enough to hit a brick wall at 70 MPH in a gated community ) , these engines are amazing my friend, the GS i have now is at 189,000 now and it is perfect (knock on wood), but yeah, 200,000 is when these engines just get warmed up, lol
but with that said, if you have the money for an upgrade, by all means DO IT, no sense in waiting for it to break, you might be waiting a while

The 2jz doesn't come in a small and big block, just one block. I don't really understand where that question came from. It's not a v8 and it's not american. It appears you don't know much about any engines not just lexus ones.

the answer to small block big block is, you miss read it, it said short block long block. meaning long block with all the accessories and wiring and short block (short all the extras). also im on my first gs i like the gas a lot its a 94 and its entirely stock 225k miles .

Haha, glad you guys cleared up the shortblock deal. I was begining to worry that no one caught it at the top.
And to 1stgengsb what in the world were you doing 70mph in a gated community for ?

These engines are good till forever...
My sister has a 92 ES300 with 194xxx miles and it runs as quiet as my 2008 IS 250...
And I found a (49xxx mi!!!!!!) 1994 GS300 (two owner, no accident) that I might buy...great cars, great quality...
The GS300 looks exactly like this one
