I think the more you use the mouse the easier it gets to use. I am finding it as easy if not easier than the rotary control on the Acura TL I had previously.

Test drove a TLX the same night as the ES and felt the same way....the rotary control is so prevalant on the dash of the TLX that you assume it controls whatever function you happen to have on screen (i.e. it would tune if you were on radio, temp up/down if on HVAC, etc) but I was very disappointed that seemed to not be the case.
The mouse on our ES loaner was much more intuitive. At first it seemed like it would be more of a pain than anything, but after a few minutes of use it really makes sense.
Not sure how I would feel about the touchpad like in the new RX.

The new RX won't have the touchpad...it uses a revised remote touch controller that has Enter buttons on the sides and a Back button, so a huge improvement on the current system. Only the NX and RC uses the touchpad.
