USB connection
Cable between USB connector and my Samsung S4 does charge the phone. However, unable to play music via this phone. Tried couple of cables. Any advise on how to play music from this phone connected to USB connector? Note that the phone's connector does support sound since works fine when plugged into my bedside dock.

@HerveG, I also tried this a while back when I first got my ES300h. It's a limitation to the Lexus system. My guess there is no driver installed installed on the Lexus side to support S4 or S5 phones. The only options are attaching a USB drive or listening to your music via Bluetooth.
I had an older iPod that we were not using and have it attached to my car.

I thought that there might be a chance that it would work if the music files were first actually downloaded to the phone in a file format compatible with the ES, but I didn't even bother wasting any more time trying that because, for me, it was okay just to use the Bluetooth connection.

I tried the same thing with my Android phone and it doesn't work, but a USB thumb drive works perfectly. I think it's because Android uses the USB Media Transfer protocol whereas the car expects a Mass Storage device. If you have an old Android phone that uses USB MSC, it might work.
