Off the wall question...
My friend doesn't trust dealerships, but uses his dealership for oil changes because his
Vehicle is still under warranty, He gets his oil changed every six months since he doesn't
drive 5,000 miles a year. When he brings his vehicle in for oil changes, it comes back
within 30 minutes. He's starting to think that they aren't really changing his oil. I know
...paranoid...but he wants to know how he can tell if they are actually changing his oil!
Feedback please!

check the dip stick before going in for an oil change and check it after. If its noticeably clear after an oil change, then they changed the oil. But honestly, if he can't trust dealership. How can he trust they are using proper grade synthetic oil? I dont know what caused him to distrust his dealership so much but if I were him, I'd just bring it to my local mechanic for peace of mind.

Plus, if he doesn't trust the dealership, why take it there and give them the business? Add to this that he's paying more for an unnecessary oil change anyway, so why stress out? Have him take the car to his local TRUSTED garage for oil changes, tire rotations and other maintenance issues, save the receipts and records. Non dealership garage maintenance is permitted under the law and warranty stays intact. Not only will he save money, but have peace of mind as well.

agree with dxerg - if you are that distrustful, try another dealer. If you are still paranoid, in the old days we I remember people making a mark on the oil filter as well as marks on tires to be sure they were being rotated. Life is too short.
