Sound quality better using apple ipod or usb flash drive?
Hello. I want to know if there is any difference between output sound quality over usb if my es300h will play sounds from usb flash drive or apple ipod touch? Keep in mind that i'll use the same songs in mp3 format from my pc. Please let me know. Thanks!

The only significant difference would be the EQ settings on the ipod which would then run through the car's own pre-amp equalizer, to a much lesser extent there is also a difference between the car's MP3 decoder versus the ipod. I would choose which was more convenient for you.

I use WMA format at 320kbps. I start to notice distortion in the higher frequencies when I get down to 270kpbs. The difference in size wasn't enough to re-encode my entire CD collection so I left it at 320.

i have a usb flash drive at the moment only and i don't like sound. in my '10 prius with JBL was better than in my '13 ES300h with standart sound system so that's why i wan to know if playing from ipod will have a better quality or if song is 256kb and it is on cd, usb flash drive, or ipod = the same sound in my car? thanks!

Pole Position
I don't really notice a difference between iPod and a flash drive but home-made CDs in MP3 format seem to have a fuller sound. Maybe it's just me. I also suggest to put mid, bass, and treble at the center positions to minimize distortion. And the balance one click to the left, and surround on.
