Default Remote Start for ES350

I priced a dealer installed Lexus remote start for my new car. Dealer wants $700.00 for remote installed. Sounds like too much money to me. Am wondering if anyone knows of a comparable unit for less. Am hoping that a remote can be installed using factory key fob.

Viper would be a better choice (priced at approx $399 installed) which has a 1000 foot range or better. Unfortunately, a separate FOB would be required.

yes, you would have to have the remote start port installed in order to operate from the key fob. i had the dealer install the RS on two ES vehicles, they are good and the range is very good, but if you turn off the car and stay in there to long the system arms itself and you're stuck in the car so to speak, so when you open the door the alarm goes off. that's the only reason i didn't like them. i have the port installed version now and i prefer it but the car shuts off when you open the door. viper has very good RS systems, you can start the car with your smart phone with some of their RS systems.

A word of caution about aftermarket remote starts. Just to provide background for my thoughts, I'm a retired cop and have worked the past 16 years as an insurance fraud investigator. The reason newer model cars can't be stolen - unless they are towed - is because of the transponder systems now found on cars. What the transponder does is create an electronic link between the computer chip on your key or fob that matches your vehicle and allows the car to start. To install an aftermarket remote they have to bypass the transponder, sometimes as simply and crudely as hiding a chip under the dash. Either way, it negates the electronic "safety" of the system. That's not to say that someone can just get in a drive away, but it defeats the biggest hurdle to the thief. Just ask the question of the aftermarket dealer and see how they get around that.
