I haven't rec'd my iPhone 5 yet, but updated my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 to iOS 6 yesterday.

I knew that turn-by-turn nav with voice wouldn't work on my iPhone 4, but in the fine print noticed it WOULD work on iPad 2 or later (with cellular).

So I just tested the Maps on the iPad 2 in my car, and the turn-by-turn nav is pretty great (it uses Siri's voice).

[I already have nav on the ES300h and wouldn't trade it for anything (especially becuz it enables streaming iTunes from my iPhone without a cable connection). But the map view on the iPad screen is HUGE; this could really save folks some money (by skipping nav) on their next car.]

And this worked with what gen NAV? Doesn't work with my 2007 NAV although regular SIRI funtions work. It may be worth it to go with a 2013 just for this.

The iOS6 version of maps does not show traffic as well as the Google map did. :-(
Google maps rule when it comes to traffic flow, I wish the Apple Map was as good.

The OP said it worked without his NAV. He didn't use it with his NAV. He used it on his iPad2 without his NAV
