Default What about 0W30?

I think I am switching from Amsoil 5W30 to Amsoil 0W30.
Anybody with 0W30? What are the results?

There should not be any noticeable difference. The 0W vs the 5W is only effective during start up so unless you have a worn engine you shouldn't have an oil consumption issue. Now the obvious question is why would you want to do this.

You will see no difference. As I mentioned the difference from 0W to 5W is insignificant and after the engine is warm the oil is at 30W and in both cases it is the same. If you were to change from 10W-40 to 0W-30 then you would see the difference. Do a little studying up on oil viscosity and you will get your own answer.

i have used 0W30 here in Canadian cliamte. it got to -30C few days ago ..brrrrrrrrrr...and the 0W30 mobil oil helped the engine for better start ups...

oh i had 5W30 ..i go back to 5W30 in summer or 10W

not much change ..also its winter time so i dont really care about mpg. the seat heater is on, the fan is on high blast (most of time), the days are shorter so headlights turn on early, rear window defroster is on..etc..
so winter mpg is not my concern altho i try to drive properly..so its basically for better start ups.

I realize this is one of those beating a dead horse argument but if you read the above thread with the web site above you will see that it is pretty much impossible for you to tell the difference in start up between a 0W and a 5W oil. Just wanted to provide others with a little insight as opposed to hear say information. Trust but verify

But the engine itself can see/tell the difference and that's important.

Good ideal to ,put up the Amsoil link as I'm sure it negated a lot of unnecessary feedback.
Your quite right when it comes to similar visc properties during start up and operating temperatures for warmer climates such as yours. Up here in colder areas of northern Canada where temps reach -35 to -40 C, quite often, Kin Visc will still be almost the same for 5w30 & 0w30 but engine start up not to mention lubrication will be significantly affected. This is where the Cold Crank Simulator (CCS) comes in. If you go back to your Amsoil link you can find out more how this comes into play. I have been using 0w30 in winter for over 15 years and the the difference in start-up is very noticeable should my vehicle be parked out of the garage overnight.
I was up in Fort McMurray a number of years ago driving a 1999 Toyota Camry v6 with 0w30. Temp was -46C. Car had been parked for 2 days plugged in with block heater or so I thought (Somebody had stolen my extension cord) I decided to try starting it. Started like a charm.
The first few years I used semi synthetic 0w30 and 0w40. Oil consumption was negligible.
