Rear bumper damage
HI guys,
Lexus newbie here, just joined the forum.
I own a 2010 es350, bought certified in NJ.
Those of you with no park assist might know, the ES's rear view isn't exactly bountiful right?
Which is partially (mostly my mistake) why i backed up to a pole with a nut sticking out.
The damage looks as if you took a knife and went across the bumper 3 inches or so. It is ripped open.
I will be stopping by a bodyshop probably today or tomorrow, but I just wanted opinions from you guys so that when the tech gives me an estimate I know it isn't extremely overpriced. I haven't gotten any bodywork in my life just yet. How much do you think is going to take to repair the damage?
Also, in your opinions, do I have to replace the entire bumper or can a good body shop can fix it?
Thanks guys,
Joon

A good shop will tell you to replace it . Considering all of the other nicks and scratches it might be the better choice. The correct way to repair this would be to remove it and do the repair and paint with it off of the car. The cheap way is to fill it and repaint on the car . Any way you look at it you are looking at maybe $1000 to $2500.

I'm quite sure you can do better but just as a point of reference - Sewell sells painted bumpers, brand new and shipped would come in under $800 (and $170 of that is shipping)

ETA- The price for clublexus members, I mean

In LA I would fix this for $400. One stop at the bumper repare place, their hot work would be $100. Another stop at Armenian shop to prime and paint for 250-300. Without this hussle shouldnt be more than 600.
