steering wheel vibration while engine idling
My 2010 ES350 now has about 52K miles. Recently, it has developed a vibration in the steel wheel when the engine is idle. It used to be very smooth. I wonder what has caused the vibration. Do I need to worry about it?
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Most likely it will be your motor mounts. Put your foot on the brake pedal while the car is running, switch it to Drive position and turn your wheel slowly all the way left and all the way right. If the vibration occurs at some one or two positions of steering wheel, this is engine mount. I am no mechanic and never owned lexus, but this is universal for every car that I drove to day.

Thanks all. How much would it run for a repair like this? This car only has 52K miles and the engine mounts quit already? I have owned 10+ cars in the past and this is the first one that has engine mount problem.

Go to local mechanic that is willing to lift your car and tell which mount went bad. Get a quote for labor, find the mount on ebay. Mount should be $50-60. Labor anywhere from 50 to 150.

I took the car to a Lexus dealer. They did not find anything wrong. They gave me a loaner car, a 2014 ES 350 with about 6,000 miles. Its steering wheel vibrates even worse than my 2010 ES 350.
It is good to have my car checked by the dealer. Free of charge even though it is slightly out of warranty. Good dealer!
