Default iVic etc. wire running

Hi all, I don't know if I should post this here or in audio / video.....
I just installed an iVic phone integration unit and would like to run the wires, possibly to the center console. I have a few questions: Has anyone done this, or for any other device? How hard is it to remove the cupholder and seat warmer switch area etc. and get thru to the console box? Is it safe to run the wires past the shifter?
I seem to remember having seen posts where people ran things from the head unit to the center console box but now I just can't seem to find any.
Thanks
PS I'll just add yet another thanks to Dreyfus for his excellent head unit removal instructions - Thanks a million!

Just an update, don't know if it'll help anyone down the line. Removing the shifter plate has been described in excellent detail in other threads. The seat warmer switch plate was very easy to remove, just by pulling up and unplugging the cable. Try as I did, I was unable to figure out how to remove the cup holder so in the end I just fished the cables underneath. I removed the aux port (like detaching any clip, just unclip and push it into the console, although not very much room under the seat warmer controls to work with) and ran all the cables including an aux line, in case I want it, into the console. There's not a whole lot of room in the console (something I probably should've checked before) and I don't know if it's the best place for the box and I'll keep it there for good but it's an absolutely clean look with no drilling required.
