Default 2009 es350 cup holder won't stay closed

Good morning.

The cup holder lid won't stay closed on my wife's 2009 es350. The lid moves fine, but won't click to stay closed. Can anyone please share how I could repair this myself.

Thanks

Had the same thing happen on my 2011. It was under warranty so the dealer fixed it. They had to order in the part. Sorry I can't help with a DIY fix.

My lid is broken too on my 2009 ES350 also. I plan on taking it apart to see if it's even fixable when I get some free time.

It appears a small plastic piece holding a small metal pin has snapped off. I doubt I can just glue it back as there may he a high shear force from the lid. Gluing plastics is very tricky especially when there's gonna be force on the break.

I'd buy it quick tho, that's an amazing deal. All the others I see are $175 + shipping.

That is a very good deal indeed if the color matches, I agree.

I've taken mine apart this weekend and turned it into a manual moving cover instead. (lift it open and it stays open, closed it down and it stays down)

I basically decided to take the springs off on both hinges. I'm happy with that.

The locking metal pin that protrudes from the cover (molded) had snapped off and gluing it back was not gonna cut it as it would see too much mechanical stress when opening/closing.
