Handling of ES350 in the winter snow
Hello,
I'm from Quebec, Canada. I wonder if you have the same experiences than me, but my ES350 handle very badly in winter snow. I have Michelin X ice tire in good condition on it and even they are well rated on tirerack, i found the behavior of the car very poor and dangerous sometime.
Could it be the weight of the car and the bouncy suspension that cause the unstable handling.
I've travelled on sloppy snow, hard snow, ici road, and my ES always slide and have trouble keeping it straight.
I had a smaller car in the past, a 2 doors and with same tires, i can move easily in the winter.
Your inputs please.

I have the same tires and live in Ottawa Ontario and have had the car for nearly 3 winters . Have not noticed any problem. My previous car was same size as the ES and it handled about the same. [I] would not drive it without snow tires thats for certain. I usually keep a bag of salt in the trunk but other than that nothing special.

I never drove my ES in a LOT of snow, but I did drive it in the snow on all seasons, and thought handled fine. I had a 2003 ES before it and thought the 350 was much better in the snow...I trout it handled pretty well.

My 2007 and 2011 handled okay in the snow with the factory all seasons. I did get hung up once trying to power into a driveway that had plowed snow in front of it. Could not turn off the traction control in order to rock back and forward better. But knowing that, I do avoid using the car during the winter, instead using our '11 Impala LTZ.

i don't think the es is any different than any other car...the difference you feel may be due to the thickness of the tire between your old car and new one or maybe the weather/road conidtions are is slightly different than before

I had winter Yoko's with that same tread pattern on my wife's previous ES300. They did a nice job in the winters here in MN. I believe they did a better job digging thru the deep snow then the Michelin Xice I was running. (Xice is designed more for hardpack & ice then deep stuff)
