Default 2008 ES350 on Regular Gas

I have now burned my third tank of regular gasoline in my 2008 ES350. So far, I cannot tell the difference, except the cost of the fillup. The car is running perfectly and my gasoline mileage is the same as when I was using High test. I do not see a difference in performance either. There must be some, but I cannot detect it. I will keep you all up to date as the months rollby.

like many others have said before, there should not be any difference. Like the 2011+ models they now recommend regular. They did lose the 4 hp that may have been given by the premium gas, but that is only at max rev, so its nearly impossible to feel the difference when using the reg vs the prem gas.

also.......as others have stated, why do you own one of the world's higest rated luxury automobiles, probably a thirty thousand dollar car, experiment about the negative effects on the engine of using cheap gas, to save four dollars on a fill up

i have already burned regular, mid grade and premium in my 2011. No noticed difference so it is regular gas. Will experiment on next Wilkes Barre, PA to Cleveland, OH trip: let it get down to almost empty, fill up with premium and see what the gas mileage works out to be to Cleveland. Then, for the return home, fill it up with regular and see what if any difference is. I'm thinking maybe not that much but you never know. I averaged 30 mpg on my 2007 Ultra filled with premium.

Last weekend I did a 270 mile run down to Harrisburg Pa. I ran thruway and interstate all the way. Regular gas and at avg. speed of 64MPH we got 30.8 MPG. My A trip has 295 miles on it and my miles to empty says 195. Nice smooth ride all the way. I didn't use premium in my 2008 so I'm not using it in my 2010. No difference.I only run 89 oct. in my old Ferrari.

The EPA ratings for the 2010 ES350 on premium and the 2011 on regular are the same 19/27/22.

I noticed that the highway rating for the 2012 on regular is 28 mpg. City and overall are the same as '10 and '11.

Regular for me after 2 fillups of premium on an 08. No adverse affects other than my bank statement thanking me.

No need to keep us up to date. We've seen numerous (scores) of other posts on this subject.

And don't let the diehards make you feel inferior for burning regular gas. We still live in a free country right? Even Lexus thought so much of the idea they went to it using it too.

I took the middle road and have used 89 octane for the past 5 1/2years. The fuel economy of this car continues to amaze me. I got my regular 33 mpg on my annual trip home from Pittsburgh this year in beautiful weather - mostly downhill to the VA coast . 470 miles on one tank with plenty to spare.

Can't beat that!
