Default Tires - may be a rehash

I realize this may be a rehash of other threads, but figure I'll throw it out here since everyone here is so helpful!

Bought a CPO 08 ES 350 about a month ago. When I test drove it, the stock tires @ 36k or so didn't have much tread left. One of the reasons I wanted a newer car was so I wouldn't have to replace tires, but I fell in love with the ES on the test drive and figured it would just be an additional cost of ownership.

Upon delivery of the vehicle, Germain Lexus of Easton went through and did their final inspection - must have noticed like I did that the tires were really worn. They put on brand new Bridgestone EL-400 tires, which from what I've been reading on a car as heavy as the ES is a recipe for 20 or 30k miles. Reviews on tirerack.com confirm this (with multiple reviews on Camrys and ES models).

My question is this - I've upped the air pressure in the tires slightly, to around 35. The door recommends 30, however I'm looking to attempt to maximize tread life on this from the onset. I'm also somewhat concerned that even though these are all-season, it seems these tires aren't the best in snow. And we get snow in Columbus, Ohio.

Any thoughts on tire pressure for maximizing treadwear? I realize that this might be in direct conflict with getting the best snow traction.

I have them on my new 2011. I run around the same because of the cold coming and the drop in tire pressure from 30 psi will set off the TPS light. I will be happy if I get close to 30,000 miles. The Michelins on my new 2007 lasted less than 19,000 miles. Michelin did a goodwill gesture and sold me a new set for $100 / tire back then. They lasted the same.
