Default 2008 ES350 Wheel Rim for winter tires

Hi friends,
I am a newcomer, just bought 2008 ES350, 34K km ( 21K miles).

Need winter tires set for Toronto, Canada winter.

Is Toyota steel rim 42611-0R020, 17 x 6.5J Type B (for RAV 2008-2011) fit my Lexus.
Is it Hubcentric ?

Other choice from Tirerack.com:
Alloy Rim, 17 x7.5J, but need a hub Ring, will the tires vibrate?
Any idea about the lugnut for steel wheel?
Could you pls share your experience and opinion.
Thanks

Why not use the 17x7 steel rims for a Camry and stock size tires?

^^^^The Camry steel wheel is 16", but it will fit an ES just fine. IMO, that's a great idea, and 16" snows should be cheaper and will be better for winter driving. Camry steelies should be very easy to find.

Any Toronto Toyota or Lexus dealer should be able to supply the correct steel wheels for any car that they sell (you are in a "snow belt"). Do NOT use any "adaptor rings". The Camry SE (not the 2012) uses a 17x7 wheel size, for example. Your TPMS will be inoperative and you'll have to put up with the warning light/message. Canadian Tire shows steel rims to fit the ES for $82.99. I'm guessing that anything from a dealer will be about double that........but check just for the heck of it.

Hi,
thank you all for the responses.
With the Camry 16" steel Rim, what the tire size should I use, so that the diameter does not change too much from the original P215/55R17.
Thanks

Hi,
I called a Toronto Lexus dealer last week. They said they didn't sell any NON-Lexus parts, including wheel rims. The original Rim was quoted CAD$750, toooo muuuch
Thanks

Using a 16" rim you'll have to use a 60 profile tire to come close to the RPM/tread dia. I'm not so sure that's a great idea. Do not go with less than a 215. You can still check a Toyota dealer for 17" steel wheels or CT for that matter. Try the following website, or any of the other tire manufacturer's websites for all the detailed specs on tires. http://www.michelinman.ca/ The RPM (revs per mile) is what will determine your speedo's change/shift in accuracy.

Take a look at e-bay motors, dial in 2008 or later Toyota Camry or Lexus ES350 wheels and see what pops up for slightly used or new wheels.

215/60/16 is the correct size to maintain the correct OD. Check this link:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....=yes&tab=Specs

You'll see that the OD of the stock size tire and the 215/60/16 is within a tenth of an inch.

Default Got the 17"wheel

I got Toyota 17x7.5 Toyota OEM wheels , 42611-0R020 for $90 each. Tried on my ES350 front and rear, they fit.
Bought from Costco Canada, (not installed yet), Michelin X ice2 P215/55R17. However, from Michelin.com, I found that it is not recommended for ES350. It is for SUV/Light Truck. This is from Michelin.com:

Unfortunately, this tire line does not meet your vehicle's specifications.
However, we may have another tire line in our portfolio that does.

What is your opinion??
Should I choose Mich Plot Alpin, PA2 , PA3, or Blizzak WS70?
Thank you

I have used both in the past. The Blizzaks seemed to last longer than one winter season (12/1 - 3/1).

The reason they are not recommended for the ES is the speed rating. They are rated with a "T". The ES comes with "V" speed rated tires, and many folks are putting on "H" speed rated ones.

Speed ratings:

S = 112 MPH
T = 118 MPH
H = 130 MPH
V = 149 MPH

So, if you limit you top speeds to 100 or so MPH You'll be just fine. The load rating is a bit higher than the OEM Michelins. "T" speed rated winter tires will work just fine for you.
