Default Replacement NAV units all gone

Our service guys placed an order for a new NAV unit because we have the typical no VR for heating/cooling functions. I was told the parts system did not show any in stock anywhere with no word from Lexus when new units would be available. Maybe they will upgrade the unit again before they release a new part, ya right.

Hi David. I was just told by my service rep that Lexus has not even released any "new" nav units. Do you know of anyone that had one replaced to fix the VR problems? Thanks, Alien.

2007 model year Lexuxs ES 350 vehicles equipped with the Lexus Navigation System produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VIN JTHBJ46G#72022076 have the defective multi-display assembly.

The replacement NAV Unit is the same part number as the defective ones and there is no "new" unit. If you're vehicle is higher than the VIN number above, you are not affected. Because the error was found and corrected in production, any order for the part # 86430–33010 will ship a unit that has the fix in it.

Please have the dealer refer to TSIB #EL008-06 for complete R&R instructions.

I just picked up my vehicle after having the Nav replaced. The voice recognition problems have all been corrected. Other than that, no different from the original unit.

I guess my service writer is not all that informed. Two days after she told us they did not know when a new part would become available she calls to say they have one. My wife dropped off her car this morning to have the new unit installed. I printed the voice commands for my wife to test before she leaves the dealer this afternoon. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Sloppy, sloppy service. My wife picks up the car and decides to test the voice commands before she leaves. Sure enough they still don't work. The service writer tries then they get a salesman to try it. The salesman tells the service writer to make sure that some final program process was done after the new install. Back into the service area it goes and 45 minutes later it is working.

I wonder if I brought in a flat tire if they would check to make sure the new tire has air in it before giving it back to me. Gee, this really lowers my confidence level of their techs
