my 3 cent article
http://www.my3cents.com/showReview.cgi?id=13869 For those with the es350 what are your thoughts and comments?

he didnt mention if he had the ML. Also, volume 35????? damn he must be suffering from hearing loss cus 35 is REALLY loud. The loudest I could handle is volume 26....any louder and it gets uncomfortable. Also, i have not experienced the rattling he was talking about. My only complaint is that the ML system isnt as rich-sounding as I had anticipated.

TOTAL UNMITIGATED CRAP!!!!
I've been an avid audiophile for over 25 years and own a home stereo system worth over $25k. The ML sound system is absolutely superb by even the most critical standards.
Anyone who's unhappy with either the "amount" or quality of the low registers is a fool and/or is trying to play Snoop Dog at stadium concert levels.

He is probably used to an American Car that even at Bass level 0 generally means Bass +6. Sure, find something with ultra low bass frequency and turn the stereo all the way up and you might find some problem to complain about. But that is really extreme and isn't going to be what 99.999% of the other customers do.
In an American Car you can make your ears hurt from the Bass level thumping at your brain, without really even trying. I drove a 2007 Escape the other day and had to have Bass set to -4 just to remotely even out the sound, and even then it was still an uncontrolled thumpy mess. Uncontrolled thump and Bass are not the same thing.

This is only one particular issue and he now believes that Lexus is such a bad product. Sure there can be a bad apple but don't discount Lexus overall as an inferior product. I would take a 10 year old ES 350 over a brand new Cadillac. That's just me...

Lexus Test Driver
The playback of the audio system is only as good ...
as the source selected. It seems My 3 cents was using his IPOD. Since the IPOD's output may be over driving the input then the resulting sound will distort badly. The louder it is played the worse it will get of course. Try a CD and you will notice much better audio quality than the IPOD or broadcast radio. XM also has excellent fidelity on the system. Now I am talking about the stock Pioneer head unit and amps. The Mark Levinson is in another league and should be tested properly with a DVD audio or a 6.1 surround sound movie. Put the parking brake on first of course if you want to view the movie and select from three screen display options. The 7.1 surround sound is impressive to say the least....Always keep at least one DVD in the changer in case the need arises....
