'05 ES330 - Remove Center Console?
I have a GROM kit on it's way, and I've been researching and watching videos on how to install it. What goes where, and how, is not what I have questions on or what I'm concerned with.
With my order, I also bought a USB finisher installation kit with the plans of replacing one of my 12V outlets with a USB outlet that goes directly to the GROM kit I purchased. What I'd like to do is to use the 12V outlet that is in the center console, and use the 12V outlet itself to power a future accessory like a dedicated iPad charger for my future iPad mini installation.
What I'd like to know is how I can gain access to either the 12V outlet in the center console, or how to remove the console so I could do the installation. Thank you for any help in advance.

It just snaps in. Pull up on the rear and then backwards. It help to put it in neutral first.
Hope you have better luck with your Grom than I did. Mine is on it's way back to it's maker.

I read your post, and I'm sorry to hear that. I keep anxiously waiting for mine as I miss listening to the music on my phone. I have a Bluetoooth hands-free unit that works for calls, but has horrible music quality.

To remove the center console you have to first remove the face plate going around the shifter by simply pulling it up. (skip to 5:00 in this video):
This reveals two screws that need to be removed to loosen the front part of the console. Next open the console and remove the carpet padding to reveal two 10 or 12mm bolts. Remove those and the console can then be removed from the car, making sure you disconnect the electrical wiring and work your way around the rear vents.

THANK YOU A LOT! My GROM kit came in on Monday and I'm itching to install it so I can have my Bluetooth, USB, and iPhone connections! I don't recall the exact model, but I went with the one that had those options.
I may even employ the help of one of my nephews and his "small hands" to reach into tight places. Before I do anything I plan on watching a LOT of videos.

Thank you everyone! The USB port install in my center console went very well, even though I did need to modify the outlet a bit to accomodate my USB adapter. I had to dremel off the bottom a bit so the plug could fit through, and then put some tape around the metal so it wasn't so sharp. The cable ran up to the stereo installation areas with no problems.
Where I did run into problems, though, was with the GROM USB2P I bought and getting it to work. It was a faulty unit and I've been trying to deal with Autotoys.com to get it fixed. It has been like pulling teeth and I've even escalated my issue with them to a PayPal Claim as I used my PayPal Business Debit card. That, was a smart move.
