I think my sway bar or link is damaged. when in corners the back of the car sway like floating on ice what is it. the lexus dealer wants starting 125.00 to just look at it. is there a place cheaper to pin point the problem

My car was the same, turned out to be uneven tire pressures. I know its minor, but its something that completely skipped my mind.

Maybe weak springs...or worn struts.

Most shops that do alignment could take a look at it for you. Get it up on a lift and check out for loose/broken sway bar links, tie rods, bushings, ball joints.

Our 94 ES started having the same handling problems at about 150,000 miles. On sweeping wide turns, it would feel like the rear end was not staying in line with the front end. Also, there would often be a delay between steering input and directional change when making sharp turns. Sometimes, there would be a slipping sensation in the steering wheel when making turns.

It turned out that the problem was a worn steering rack. After replacement of the original rack with a remanufactured rack, the steering was as good as new.

A good alignment shop should be able to diagnose the problem.

Could also be something as simple as worn out bushings/end links for the rear sway bar. Go to a local shop for an alignment, they'll inspect the whole suspension and balance your tire pressures for less than it would cost Lexus to look at it.

Probably worn out struts then. How many miles on your car?
