How the heck do you open the cabin filter slot / cover on a 92 ES300???????

I was at the wreckers yesterday and while I was looking for stuff I ripped the carpet up on a RHD 92 Windom 3VZ-FE and found the cabin filter slot but couldn't open it with my hand, I had to break stuff to get it open, and ended up using a screw driver to open it, I broke some of the plastic around it, and don't want to repeat the exercise on my own car - I want to be able to put the slot cover back on!

There was no filter in the slot, I was shocked at the amount of leaves and debris in there!!!

Has someone got the part number handy for the cabin filter also??

cabin filter is a nice thing to have on the 2ES. just do a search on ebay.
IIRC the door is supposed to be a slid lock, so you slide it up or down, and then it opens.

oh yes and for those of us with right hand drive vehicles it's on the drivers side, in the centre area by your right foot....


yeah it seemed to be a slider I just couldn't get it to slide until after I broke some stuff, lol...

I watched a video for the 97-01 camry and there appeared to be a catch at the top of the slot cover, I'm thinking the ES300/Windom might be the same...
