96 eS 300 Starts and dies
Started car this morning, ran for 1 min then it died tried to start again and it turns over to start and dies. Checked all possible hoses everything was on. Checked fuses, AM2 was blown. Replaced it. No change. Took battery to get tested, was bad. Swapped it out, put battery in. No change. I see a lot of different possibilities. But its real hard to narrow it down, since now I cannot get to a scanner. My check engine light has been on for the longest (o2 sensor- cc) but the other day it went off the whole day, next morning came back on. I noticed a post about the check engine light. Am I dealing with a possible short from the ignition to the fuse or ECU ? Opinions??

Well no unfortunately I have not had finances to properly maintain my car. Fluids and basics yes, but not the other stuff that I am slowly learning about. Im at 342k. Had it for four years. I am reading a lot of issues regarding this am2 blowing. However there are other issues too, such as my tranny wont shift from a complete stop properly unless i put it in low, which is apparently NOT connected to the computer.(so more than likely its not the transmission) Fixed my abs, but maybe the speed sensor is bad too. I replaced coils and plugs, however I am still misfiring. I see the am2 is also closely related to coil issues as well. I think my car is ready to go and the domino effect is taking place. So yes I need to pull codes. As well check my fuel filter. When I turn the key I can hear the fuel pump doing its job which is "supposed" to be a good sign. This is all DIY. Again finances.

96 es 300 starts and dies SOLVED !!!!
It was my ignition control module. Which is a pretty pricey piece. I also replaced the fuel pump which was going bad. But the control module is what had me stranded. I initially tried clean the idle control valve but still no start. FINALLY was able to get a scanner. Hope this helps someone else.
