DIY: 1MZFE ES300/RX300 Timing Belt

For me it was 4 hours one day and 4 hours the next, including taking photos and video.
I could do it again in 4 hours if the rear cam seal doesn't take so long to remove and install.
Just make sure you have all the tools handy before you start the job. You won't have to remove the water-pump or drain the coolant if just doing the seals, but you'll need a vise to reset the tensioner if reusing.

Anyone know how similar / different the timing belt change is on the 3VZ-FE??
My timing belt was last changed 126,000KMS ago (2001) so could probably do with changing.... Given the labour I suspect is involved in relation to the value of my car it's probably another case of DIY or not at all!

Very similar but make sure you get the correct belt for your year, apparently previous mechanic put your year in my car and messed up the timing. thank goodness that is all he did.
Really only way is to inspect it, but at past 200K miles I changed mine and because I was told the belt was wrong replaced it again at 300K miles.

Reusing Tensioner with no vise
I recently changed my timing belt on an rx300. If reusing the Tensioner, you can also put it between the car frame and a jack if you don't have a large vise clamp.

^^ Good idea. I didn't think about that. I used a C clamp and the rented ball joint press before.
Also got this seal kit http://www.tooltopia.com/private-brand-tools-70961.aspx
