Metra stereo dash kit for '96 is a POS...
Just a heads up for you guys. I put a single DIN car stereo in yesterday. Ordered it from Crutchfield so it came with the wiring adapter and dash kit. Problem with the Metra dash kit is that only the climate control above the stereo and the pocket below the stereo are secured to the mounting brackets. The stereo unit is secured to the faceplate, and the faceplate is held to the mounting assembly by 4 really thin cheesey clips. These clips broke within the first couple minutes of wiggling the assembly back into the dash. I wasn't forcing anything, just holding the assembly in a few different places to aid installation - the whole thing is really flimsy.
I fixed by glueing the faceplate to the pocket, but had to do this after installation so everything lined up nicely and you can see the epoxy I used. I would NOT recommend this kit.
The other thing is that the pocket that came in the kit has good size holes in the top and bottom of it in the back. A dime would easily fall thru, quarter no but a nickel might. Looks like the holes are meant for assembly into another kit, but aren't used in this application...
