Shaking issue with acceleration and solution
Hey All,
Figured I would post my problem and solution so that if anyone has similar problems they have a place to start.
My 94 ES300 started to shake when accelerating on the interstate. It was fine otherwise and the shaking was more of a left-right shaking.
I checked all the tire pressures and balance and everything was good. Problem quickly was getting significantly worse. Started hearing a clicking noise from my LF area. Took the front tires off and checked the axels. The left had a little more play then the right, but nothing terrible. Both boots were intact on the CV Shaft. On a hunch, I replaced the Drive Axel/CV Shaft anyway with a new on from EMPI for $65 (Raxels.com didn't have any for my car). The problem went away. Upon inspection of the old one, all of the grease had gummed up and solidified in the Axel causing the issue.
The install was actually quite easy, remove the control arm bolts, unbolt the Axel from the differential/transmission (6 bolts) slid out with a little tugging. Slid the new one in (requires a little force applied on the Hub to get it the slide in.
Hope this helps anyone in the future that has a similar problem.
