Default 2004 ES330 Rear Power Window problem

Both of my rear windows would not go down (window lock was off). I could hear them click when I pushed the button down which would indicate the fuses were good.

So I find in another forum to turn on the engine, sit in the seat where the window isn't properly working, open the door, push and hold down the window button, and slam the door. BINGO, it worked for the rear driver's door and the window immediately went down when the door slammed shut. I was so excited and could barely believe this worked!

Unfortunately when I attempted this on the rear passenger door I got nothing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Today I gave it a go again on the rear passenger window and the same solution worked. I have no explanation why it would work today, but not last night. I'm still amazed that this process works to fix two windows that were seemingly dead. I thought for sure we'd be paying hundreds for two new motors and installation.

Since others have had this experience, I'm curious if anyone knows why these windows temporarily fail like this.

You can almost be sure that the windows will stop working again, probably sooner than later. You've pushed the window down until the regulators "catch" at a not quite so worn part again. Not making fun of you in any way, shape or form, but 99.9% of the time these little miracle fixes don't work, or only work once. You're lucky that the glass didn't break or something inside the door didn't break and left you with an always open window.
I've seen this being caused from anything like just being dirt and crap in the way, a part that had come loose and blocked the working of the glass, a bolt or retaining clip coming loose and out to a broken cable.
Time to remove the door panels and have a look/see before it gets worse. Doors and glass aren't hard to work on but it's very close quarters in there

This is a common issue. There is a TSB regarding it.

Thank you for this thread!! I had the exact same problem, i took it to Nalley Lexus dealership, they wanted $900 to replace the window motor. I said no, I was looking for a used motor when i came across this thread. I said, "well, what do i have to lose?" and tried the sitting in the back, with car running, button down, and shutting the door. Worked on the first time.
Saved me $900. Thank you internet.

Default 2006 Lexus ES330 rear left window won't work

Thank you for the thread and tips how to make a stuck window work. My wife's 2006 ES330 rear left window was not opening for about couple years and I was undecided what to do until my wife pressed hard on the issue. First, I referred to the owner's manual and checked the fuse and it was good. I was hoping it was the fuse because that will be the cheapest fix. Then I called the dealer and talked to the service adviser who told me it could be a number of things and I have to leave the car with them. I also called Lexus customer service to find out if there was any recall for this problem. There wasn't any recall. Then I stumbled upon this thread and wanted to give it a try before I take it to the dealer. I left the engine running, sat on rear left passenger seat, pushed the window switch, and closed the door at the same time. Nothing happened. Tried again - nothing, again - nothing, and on the 4th attempt the window started rolling down. I was very happy. Now the window opens and closes from rear passenger switch as well as the driver's switch. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
