Rug Doctor vs 13 years of dirt
For anyone who doesn't know, I purchased the car with 175,400 miles on the clock in July of this year. It was in a fairly good shape for its age, but being the perfectionist that I am, I'm constantly working on it.
Well one of my most recent projects was cleaning the carpets. I wanted to just give the car to a detailing shop and let them do all the work, but then I remembered the Rug Doctor...
I removed the seats in order to get a thorough cleaning of every little crevice. The pictures below were taken after doing multiple passes (refilling the machine twice) and agitating the nastier spots with a spray bottle and a stiff bristle brush. I finished up at sunset, with the carpets fairly moist but not wet. I decided to use a hair dryer to get all the moisture out, since I was paranoid about having a mildew issue in the future. But if you can finish up while the sun is still out, I would just leave all the windows down and let the carpets dry on their own.
If I was to do it all over again, I would agitate all the stains before using the vacuum.
Gas Pedal
Dead Pedal

Driver Side Armrest Area
Behind the Driver
Middle Hump
Under the Passenger Seat
Passenger Side Arm Rest

1 day Rental of the vacuum (wide track) + the hand tool = $29.99
Carpet Cleaner + Anti-Foam = $18
Results = priceless

You can get it at any super market, I got mine from my local Shop Rite. The one I had was actually red, I think the blue ones are the consumer versions.
p.s.: I also cleaned up my seats with Leatherique not too long ago, but that's for another thread.

Good Job!
I use a spray called Spot Shot - it does a great job on stains. I use it before I do the carpets. I have one on the Bissell units spray with a vac
How difficult was taking the drivers seat out -- I need to work on my track.

Thanks!
I actually may need a new track as the seat rocks ever so slightly.
I am hoping i can get it welded ........ but I have not done anything about it because of the unknown of removing the seat.

It's just four 14mm bolts and two electrical connectors. I put the seat in its middle position with the seat back all the way up. I also removed the head rest and moved the steering wheel to its highest position. The trick is to pull the bottom cushion out first, with the seat on its left side.
