Default newbie with a no start issue

I bought my lex about a year ago from the little old lady across the street and the car has been nothing short of remarkable as far as the deal i got. It has every new/scheduled part imagineable. It has 140K and runs flawlessly, even at 3500 miles, the oil looks brand new every time. The problem started a few weeks ago. I drove the car for about a 400 mile scoot without turning it off. After getting home, I try and start the car and it cranks and cranks and cranks and when the battery was about dead, it finally fires but just sputters and stalls. The next day I go out and it fires right up but the check engine light was on. Next time it started , it was completely fine. Now today the same thing happened, I drove about 100 miles home from a relative's place and when I parked it, it wouldnt start again and I could only get it to sputter once before the battery died. Now here's the kicker, both times this happened so far, when the key is cycled to on or cranking, the temp gauge pegs but I know the car wasn't overheating cause I just got done driving it and all was well. I am kinda stumped and when the rain stops I will checdk the obvious like fuel and spark, but until then does anyone have any suggestions?? It is a 1995 es300. Thanks all and any input would be much much appreciated

Checking the obvious must start by checking for any stored codes in memory.

Never heard of such a thing but it is interesting that he CEL did come on at one point. Did the temp gauge go up while you were driving it or is that what you mean by all was well?

I went back to the car and just like last time it fired right the hell up after sitting overnight. CEL was on, went straight to autozone and had them scan...P0758,P0753, p0773. All codes for shif solenoid a,b, and e. fired the car right up when I left and no longer any CEL. WTF is going on with this thing??
