Ipod connection on factory stereo 1999ES300
Is there a way to connect your IPOD to your factory stereo? Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks ,

Yea the WIRED fm modulator and not wireless FM transmitter. Better quality. Sucks because some vechicles can add an ipod adapter to take over another function like SAT radio or CD changer. I havent found anything for 99 ES300. Or if you really want to get best quality and most control from your Ipod or Iphone you can change the stock radio, but this is the most expensive option.

Can you explain a wired fm mod a little better? In detail? I have now a griffin fm transmitter so i am a little confused. I have looked into aftermarket radios with ipod hook ups like pioneer that i can also add a backup camera but would really like to keep costs down.
Also, Is there a way to take the wires that go to the cd changer and adapt them for IPOD use? Meaning not use the CD changer but use your IPOD instead. I cant really explain it better but i hope you all know what im getting at here. Do they make a wire harness for this type of application?
Thanks

Right now I just use CD's, but I've been looking for an alternative. I've seen a couple DIY's around here for the ES where someone wired it up behind the dash to the CD or tape output, I don't remember which. Just do a search for it and something should come up.
Those cassette tape adapters work, but the sound is often quiet and low quality.

A FM Mod is a wired adapter. It plugs directly into your stock stereos antenna spot and then your factory antenna cable plugs into it. So when the unit is ON, your radio sees it as the strongest (well one of them) stations. So you dont have to switch stations as much (if ever) when you drive through other cities.
This is just one I found quick but gets the idea across.

you can see that it has a port or female end for the factory antenna and a male end. The adapters I am recommending have a cable which charges your Ipod.
