Default Brake light question....

Here is my situation....

It is a 2000 model. For a week now, I am seeing a yellow light illuminates in the gauges panel indicating back light issue.

I tested the back lights (both standard light and the brake light) and determined that driver side brake light doesn't come on when I press the brake. It is a small bulb and replaced it with Sylvania 2825LL bulb.

After the bulb change, when I start the car and/or turn on the head light switch, the yellow illumination doesn't come back. However, the moment I press the brake, it comes back on and the driver side back brake light doesn't work.

I am confused, what could be the issue?. How to fix it?.

Did you try replacing the left side brake light? If the bulb is good, then the problem may be from a frayed/broken wire. Check inside the trunk on the left side, the wires tend to fray and get cut just before they go behind the beauty panel/lining.

Thanks for the quick response.

Yes, I replaced left side (driver) brake bulb with Sylvania 2825LL. Since then, the yellow illumination doesn't come on when I start and drive the car until I press brake. Then it shows up and stays there.

I will need to check for any frayed/broken wire. Is there any easy way to check without opening the lining?. Can I use digital multi meter?.

GEt this, the sensor is so sensitive that if you have one bulb that is not the same brand as the rest it can trigger it.

I had this in mine for the longest time and simply got used to it being on/off.

Now it comes on at night when i'm running my HIDs/fogs, not during the day when the DRL's are only lit up.

Some tried [myself incuded] cleaning the contacts of all the other bulbs, but no dice. You have to have the same brand of all the stop lights for it to go away in order to have uniform current flowing through. One may be off by 0.01 V and it will trigger this.

If you have frayed wires, they will be visible and not behind the lining (most likely). They break or get damaged and the flex point. The Sylvania bulbs should be equivalent to the originals, but like 01LEXPL says, the system likes to be balanced.
