Most reliable generation of lexus ES!
Recently Mr Toyoda admitted that toyota has been growing quickly which may have led to some of the issues they are running into lately. I have always been a fan of toyota because of its reliability. I had 1992 toyota camry which has 265k miles now and its still running strong. Passed it on to my younger brother. I drive 97 lexus es300 that has 244k miles now. The car runs very smooth with no major issues.
I was wondering if the reliability that Toyota/lexus is known for is there for all Lexus es's or if you guys thought that some generations are more reliable than others?

I think the 3rd generation (97-01) was probably the "Best" - didn't have all the unnecessary electronic nonsense of the newer ones, and had most of the issues from the earlier ones worked out. All we've had to do on ours was change one coil and one O2 sensor. The plugs would have kept going, but I figured I might as well replace all of them while I was in there. I plan on keeping mine around as a backup car when I buy a E39 M5 next year.

I have a 95 Camry LE V6 with 182K that I'm letting my son use. I drove it yesterday and it drives like its brand new. Better than my 99 ES300.
Of course, the reason I was driving the Camry was because I was giving it a test drive after replacing the driver's side drive axle which had fallen off. The drive axle is bolted in place with 6 bolts. All 6 of the bolts were missing. I don't blame Toyota. I blame the dealership who replaced it some 80K miles ago. It was a $100 repair, much better than the cost of a new transmission which was my initial diagnosis when I heard grinding when I shifted into each gear.

Pole Position
96' es 300 155,000 miles... Oil changes and gas that's it... We replaced the timing belt, water pump, motor mount, and did a full tune up at 100,000 miles. I think she will be good till 200,000 I seriously love my ES, its almost as good as my 5mge Cressida

Yes sir. 94 Camry is the best. Those engines are bulletproof (4 cylinder)
I would say that 3rd gen ES are the best as well.
