My ES launches slow compared to Camry

i have also noticed slow lauches compared to comparable camrys of the same year....
my theory is
1. the weight difference due to different interor plus large amount of sound deadening.
2. This is probrobly not true but may be. I think that the torque converter is calibrated different in camrys. When i drive gen 3 camrys it seems the shifts are a bit more firm and crisp making the car a little more jearky, as compared to the es300 which make increadibly smoothe (sloppy) shifts for a luxury affect.
There is a way to change this as level 10 transmissions will recalibrate the torque converter, however they want a whole grip of money for it

power buttondoes that, the overdrive button, when disengaged, only allows your car to go into the first 3 gears. with overdrive off, your car is driving like a 3 speed. it cannot enter fourth gear until you allow it to by turning overdrive back on. you can feel this well if you are going about 60 or so, steady paced and take it out of overdrive, you will feel the car downshift. but like nabeel said, it improves the fuel economy and the life of the enginge(by lowering rpms)

That is really good on your car to do neutral drops. J/k It might be becasue the camry is a little lighter. I have noticed this also with my friends xle camry.
