loud noise when starting car, goes away when i shift out of park
OK. this is a very odd problem, but I have a 94 es300 that makes a loud
whirring noise when I start the engine up. It whirrs and whirrs until I shift out of Park into any gear. It used to do it only when the car was warm from a previous drive and not when the car was cold, but now it does it everytime.
Any ideas you have are appreciated. the car has about 174000 miles on it, and it has had the engine replaced.
both the transmission fluid and engine oil need to be changed, but I don't think that's the problem.

Is it possible it's the starter? I just looked into the hood of the car and touched the starter and the poor thing feels like it's holding on for dear life to the engine but the engine wants to eject it hard and fast.
