Transmission filter
Does my 92 ES300 w/automatic have a transmission filter that is user serviceable? Mine has a pronounced delay before engaging in "D." It goes into reverse immediately, and shifts fine when driving. Just sits for about 1-1/2 seconds before grabbing drive.
I changed the fluid, but still the same. Was thinking a filter cleaning or change might help.
Thanks,
Dale

It does. You have to drop the pan to change the filter. Doing a drain and fill only replaces like 20% of the fluid, so change the filter, and fill back up with the correct fluid and see what happens. How many miles are on that 92?

The car has 234k miles. It's kind of rough, but it's amazing how well it drives even after what appears to be many years of neglect. I replaced the head gaskets and have been trying to gather it up some.
