Scratches on Wood Trim - how to remove?
Just bought a pre-owned 05 ES330. Has some scratches on the wood trim around the Gearshift - presumably from keys or something the previous owner was putting there.
Has anyone encountered this and found a reliable way to polish or buff off? Just wanted to check before I try to buff them out.

I would say if u can run your finger nail against it and the nail get caught theres no going back but if its very light surface like only cear coat scratch try using 3m Rubbing compound. That stuff works miracles even on body, not that cheap tho. should be able to pick it up at auto zone or something

The clear coat over the wood is about the same used on the outside of the car.
I use Meguiars scratch X (find it at your local autozone) to take out scratches from the wood trim.
Heres the center console from my 12 year old ES
Just use a clean microfiber cloth and make sure to mask off the area around the wood with masking tape, or just remove the wood trim. You will need to go over an area 2-3 times to totally remove all the scratches. After, use pledge lemon wood polish to protect the freshly polished surface.

I found that Meguiars "Ultimate Compound" works for the deeper scratches in the wood finish if the Sratch-X won't get it. The UC stuff is the same technology as the Scratch-X, an abrasive that breaks down as you use it so you don't go too far, it is just a bit more aggressive.

I am happy with how it looks now, might just spray it with some pledge and call it that.
But thanks for that advice.
