Ordered new master key and valet key
Hey guys I ordered a Master and Valey key for my car from Lexus-Parts.com and they will be in a couple of days. I know I have to program the lock/unlock feature on the remote and I have the instructions for that. Now I dont have to program the key so it can turn the car on do I? Does anyone have a clue if the key has to be programmed to start the car?

not to sure if they can do that... ive got a 2000 es300 and the only buttons on the key are unlock lock/panic and trunk, if we can add a remote starter to our key fobs, i want in lol...

Ariyanna, whenever anyone asks a question, they need to state what year the vehicle is. I assume it is an ES300 since the question is in the ES300 forum.
I have a 2000 ES300, and when I ordered two new, cut, non-remote master keys, they did have to be programmed before they would start the engine. When you get the keys, they will open every lock, and turn in the ignition as is, but they will not start the engine until they are programmed. And there may be a limit of three keys that can be programmed to the car--the engine control module may not accept more than three. So you may need to delete the other keys from the ECM, except the master key you already have, before you try to program more keys. Plus that's a great anti-theft thing to do if the other keys were lost or stolen.

Read the ten paragraphs below the 3 photos of the transponders and transponder key.
