$460 for 15k mile service?
I have an '06 ES330. My dealer wants $460 for the 15k mile service and says that it takes about 3 hours to do it. According to the manual, the 15k mile maintenance includes oil change, tire rotation, and a bunch of "inspections."
My questions are: (1) Why does it take 3 hours to do it?, and (2) Is it worth $460 ?

It takes 3 hours because sometimes they claim to have other people waiting for their tune up. And or maybe there's a shortage of staff on hand. I think it's a rip off but it costs that much because it's a Lexus. I don't know about the dealer but at the mechanic, they charge like $70+ an hour for labor.

lmao. There's not much to do @ 15k miles. Change oil you can do it yourself or get it done for $20. Tire rotation, if u have jacks and jackstands, u can do it yourself or pay $15 at a shop. The so call inspections, all they do is lift up your car to see if anything is loose in the suspension or they might just pull the wheels to check the brake pads. You can also do that urself if you get under the car or any shop can help you do a quick inspection for very little money.
$460, the stealer is like raping you royally up the *** with no lub!

For that kinda money, makes me glad I'm not on the warranty.
Can you just get the oil changed somewhere else without voiding the warranty? Does the warranty state that all work must be done at a Lexus Dealership?

never use the term "xx mile service" or you're asking for it...
dealers usually have their own prepackaged service intervals that include a bunch of crap you don't likely need. so ask for a tire rotation and oil change, and general inspection instead.
eta: LXMN, they can't void your warranty because you don't have service done with them. if you need a warranty repair, it has to be through a lexus authorized shop but otherwise so long as you can prove the maintenance was done they can't deny you warranty coverage.
one thing that wasn't mentioned above was to INSPECT THE CV BOOTS... very important. should be inspected in general inspection, they are usually very good about trying hard to find more things for you to spend money on.

I also have a 2006 ES 330. I paid a grand total of $10. I brought my own oil and filter. They charged me for labor. I had my tire rotated at a tire store for free. Only other expense for me was buying a denso air filter and changing it out myself in 10 minutes.
Seriously, you should post the name of the dealership here so no one gives them a penny more in business. I personally would rather drive another 50 miles and bring my car to a honest dealership for warranty and non warranty work.

Definitely does not take 3 hours. They may be busy, or be short of techs like said before. A general Oil change, tire rotation, and inspection should not take more then 45 mins to an hour.
And it is not worth that much. Assuming lexus charges you 5 Bucks a quart and 10 bucks for the oil filter would be 50$ for oil, and maybe 40$ for the rotation at max, and lets say 50 for the inspection. Even with those ridiculous prices I just assumed thats 140$. So about 310 for labor?
NOT WORTH IT. Id rather do it myself. Or if you don't have the capabilities/experience there is nothing wrong with allowing a trusted private shop do it for you. Just my opinion
