Very High Idle At Startup, 17.3mpg Combined MPG
Hey guys, I used a diagnostic reader on my 2001 ES300; 161,000 miles and pulled a code of P0446: EVAP Emission System Circuit malfunction, I believe that has to be with Vacuum Control Valve along with the Vapor Pressure VSV and the charcoal canister. The car is only averaging 17.3mpg combined mostly highly and a little city driving every day, when started up cold it idles very high jumping to 1800rpm and drops to 1500rpm and slowly works its way down to 800rpm or so in a matter or 5-8 mins, I'm thinking it's tuneup time for the car, or should I look into cleanin out carbon? The car was maintained quite well by the dealer I purchased it at(Massapequa). Any help is appreciated, I'm thinking of trying a bottle of seaform to see if it can help while I find time to take it to the dealer..
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

Our ES also idles on the high side. On these cold mornings, it'll run 1800rpm for awhile before eventually settling down. However, I think that part is normal since the 2006 Toyota Avalon we rented last month idled 1500rpm one warm morning, and I hear high idles from all Toyota engines upon cold startups.

My old camry did the same as well idled even higher, I just don't get why it will do it even after a few hours I left the car...I would go out, park, 4-5 hours come back and the car starts up but idles around 1500-1200 before falling, i added in seafoam to the gas tank and I immediately noticed a difference in throttle response...I don't think I can do the combustion chamber part because I won't be able to put in new plugs if I did the cleaning. I have to say though, for a gas tank pour alone Seafoam already is worth it's $5
