Is the new '02 ES300 made in Japan or USA?
(final point of assembly)

A related question... I read that the current
ES300 ('01- and before) is still being manufactured
in Japan and continues to be part of the Toyota line-up.
It said the new '02 ES300(US/Canada market) is
a completely different Toyota vehicle and simply
badged as a Lexus ES300, and it is not related to
the current ES300.... ????

I was wondering the same thing. I think the '02 ES will be made in Japan, but starting in '03, the RX will be made in NA, and possibly the ES. I don't know if this is to supplement the Japanese factories (that is, some of the RXs and ESs sold here will be made in Japan, and some in NA) or if all of the RXs and ESs sold in NA will be made in NA...
Also, I don't think that Toyota would keep the '01 in production as a separate model. They would both be in the EXACT same segment. Not good for business. Probably just a rumor.
