Performance chip for 2000 ES 300?
I recently bought a 2000 ES 300 and am considering purchasing and installing a performance chip (that hooks into the ECU). I've seen that they can be bought for anywhere from $10-$60 on ebay and it says you will get anywhere from 8-12 HP and 8-12 ft/lb of torque. Has anyone done this? If so, does it work, or is it a hoax? I am also wondering if it is not recommended, since I'm guessing that the engineers at Lexus designed these cars to maximize their performance. Any thoughts or feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks

It's a resistor in a box with a wire on it.
1) It changes the mixture the wrong direction
2) It will work for a few milliseconds, then the car will perminantely tune what you did out.
The only way to chip is to get a piggyback. You get about 10bhp in the mid-upper rpm range from leaning the fuel mixture out.
