Default How do I change the air filter on my 03

That may sound like a silly question but how does 1 change the air filter on the 2003 ES300

Just to paint everyone a picture, the air box has 2, 10mm bolts in it, got those loose no problem but the box will then only open an inch or 2, what else am I suppost to do to get the filter out, what else needs to be undone or am I missing a clip.

Everytime I bring the car into the dealer they have never once said anything about my air filter, maybe they are waiting til I hit 30k.

How long can I leave that in their, it's gonna eventually drive me nuts, like a stuffy nose for a car

Thanks in advance

you got the 2 10 mm bolts. good.

on the outside back wall of the air box is a device held on by a bracket. There is a black hose clamped to the device. The easiest way to remove this is to remove the philips head screw that hold the bracket to the air box. remove this screw and the bracketed device will hang loose. Then the top of the air box will now pivot high enough to slide the old filter out and the new filter in. Use a magnetized stubby screwdriver!!!!!!

Pay attention to the orientation of the filter as there are two indents that match up with the molding on the bottom of the air box. Slip in the new one in the same orientation and then replace the cover. It might have to be wiggled as it easily comes umisaligned along the catches on the inside edge. Lastly replace the bracketed device and check that the large rubber hose didn't come unplugged from the airbox just below this bracket.

It's a piece of cake once you do it once.

Thanks, figured it was something like that and I'd have to loosen 1 of those screws
