I have same issue with 98 es300, my error code is po135, s1b1 . I called Lexus for o2 sensor pricing ($252.00) I laughed so I asked for part # he gave it to me and I called Toyota and asked price from them ($152.00) lol, I then called advanced auto bought it for $85 cleared my code, drove home started on the way to work in the am and CEL came back on checked it again and was same code(po135) traded sensors with advanced again ended up doing the same thing.
The one I replaced was located front end of car as soon as you open hood .
Is that not sensor 1 bank 1?
I also have the nakamichi stereo the LCD is out what is my best route for repair/replace of it .

Nope, Bank 1 is next to the firewall. Did you get an A/F sensor or an O2 sensor? Was your car built to Calif emissions spec? If yes, you need an A/F sensor. Also, if you got a non-Denso sensor, eg Bosch, it will likely not work even when installed in the right place.

Look at the label underneath the hood. It does not matter where you bought the car. I bought my 99 Avalon in Delaware but it was built to a Calif emissions spec. You can also give Lexus your VIN and they will tell you. I believe all ES's starting in 99 used A/F sensors upstream, but I believe the 98's depended on the emissions spec.
