got her back

Guys, I just had mine in for service, and they washed it. I forgot about those warnings.
From now on, I'll ask them not to wash it. I've been taking it to a place that does it 'by hand', as I live in an apartment complex,
and we don't get a water source to wash a car.
They put wax on it also, which I'm not sure I should do or not.
Once I took it to an 'auto car' wash (set on brushless). Shortly after, I noticed these odd horizontal scratches going across the hood. Fortunately, they were tiny enough that I was able to buff them out, but I suspect that damn auto car wash place
did some voodoo on my car.
Poppa, yeh I'm the same way. I hate it even when someone is 'hanging around' in the vicinity of my car. When I go to the
grocery store, I park it as far away from the other cars as possible. Yet still sometimes someone will go out of their way to
park right next to me, and then if I see it I'll move my car quickly, espcecially if it's one of those HUGE

lol, Yeh, it sometimes seems that way. Maybe people think it's desirable to park next to such a hot car. It's like
moving into an upscale neighborhood.
It's also that there are simply a LOT more SUVs, big trucks, etc. around.
If you're in a congested area, esp if you have no private parking, it may not be a bad idea to get the 'dent and ding' insurance.

My car was recently backed into(front fender), they had Progressive ins, and so I took it to their service center since they will give you a rental there on the spot. They asked if I wanted aftermarket or OEM for replacement parts. I said OEM and received no complaints. My car is also about 10 years old.
As far as washing, I would agree, avoid the machine car washes. Touchless is good for getting the loose salt/dust off and I still use them once in a while for that purpose.
For those who want to start washing their cars, using the 2 bucket method is great. But! Get some grit guards. I use the 5g buckets from Home Depot and throw these in the bottom. Keeps the dirt at the bottom and prevents your wash mits/whathaveyou from dipping into the dirt.
Also, be sure to use car wash soap and not dishsoap. Dishsoap is harsh and will remove the wax. No bueno. Just in case you didn't know..

My wife has to park our Lexus in a parking garage at work and the spaces in garages are getting progressively smaller and smaller.
We have plenty of scratches behind the rear doors from people swinging wide and I find more all the time. Don't believe there really is much we can do about it, unfortunately.
