gripes
have a 2015 es (had a 2014 avalon prior). does anyone have these two gripes?: headlights on both cars are marginal at best----jerky throttle control/trans not knowing what gear to stay in at speeds of 40 mph and below. are there any fixes. other than these issues,. a good car

Speaking about the gear changing -this car downshifts to 1st gear too quickly when coming "almost" to a stop. All other cars kept it in 2nd gear. The ES downshifts to 1st too quickly and creates a very bad jerk.

I agree, the base Halogens are just OK. I tried some Syvania Silverstar Ultras and they were just a tad whiter but I can't say they were any special improvement, and they only lasted about a year with only minimal use. I was not impressed.
As for the transmission behavior, you have highlighted one of the reasons I prefer the hybrid. There is no shifting so it is much smoother. There have also been a few complaints with the ES 350 about vibration at idle. Again, not a problem with a hybrid. Plus they are quieter as they spend a bit of time with no internal combustion engine. If you drive with your foot in the throttle a lot, I suppose they might be noisier as the smaller gas engine will surely have to labor harder, but it fits our driving style very well. Furthermore, we haven't experienced any of the rattles some have described here in nearly two years of ownership.
We have really enjoyed the 300h and aside from the weak halogens (sales rep told us it had HIDs by the way) it has been a terrific car.

I just bought a 16 ES and its the smoothest car Ive ever had plus the LED headlights are awesome.... Im not sure which halogen bulb yr car has. but the previous Pilot and Highlander had H-11 bulbs... I bought an adapter online to use an H-9 bulb which is 50% brighter...or u can use a dremel tool to remove the H-9 tab to put it in...This is all assuming that u do indeed have an H-11 bulb...

Headlights that come w it are too weak. Seems to be a trend w newer cars. My Accord 2013 was weak as well, and it didn't cover as much
of an area as the older cars did. It just doesn't light up the area at night like the older cars did, specifically the 99 Malibu I used to drive 6 years ago.
