Default Cabin air filter setting

In cabin climate screen in "..." submenu is a 'cabin air flterr' setting you can turn on or off. It returns to default off after car restart. I'm assuming there's only the one cabin filter behind the glove box, so, what exactally does this setting do? No specific how it works info on manual. No mention of an ionizer. Thanks in advance

Not sure what model your you have but this is from the 2013 manual.

Micro dust and pollen filter button
Operates micro dust and pollen filter on/off.
Outside air mode switches to (recirculated air) mode. Pollen is
removed from the air and the air flows to the upper part of the body.
Usually the system will turn off automatically after approximately 1 to 3 minutes.

■Micro dust and pollen filter
●In order to prevent the windshield from fogging up when the outside air is cold, the
following may occur:
• Outside air mode does not switch to (recirculated air) mode.
• The dehumidification function operates.
• The operation cancels after approximately 1 minute.
●In rainy weather, the windows may fog up. Press .
●In extremely humid weather, the windows may fog up.
●The pollens are filtered out even if the micro dust and pollen filter is turned off.

Apparently the filter is always used with both outside and recirculated air. The button only pumps more air through the filter, in case the air inside the car is dusty.

Mine's an actual button and "nano-e" is written on the climate control stack. No idea what that means.

My manual shows same, it's in submenu with A/C on off, and shows a little filter vertically with air running thru it. It always returns off when turn off car. I'm just not sure, does it turn flow to a different filter, and if so, where is it? What is the micro/dust/pollen filter, if different. I'm only aware of the one behind glove compartment. The fan seems to run a little faster when turning it on. it isn't related the circulate/recirc. or smog sensor.

It's for when you get in the car after being in a dusty environment or a lot of pollen. It blows air at your face and forces more air through the cabin air filter (there is only one) to get the dust/pollen off of you.
