Dealer Inventory Question / L/Certified Vehicles
I've been checking in on these Lexus forums ever since a bought my IS250 new in 2012. I'm considering replacing it with a 2014 or 2015 L/Certified ES350 sometime soon. Since I'm looking for a vehicle with the color and options I want is it possible for my nearest dealer to get one from other dealers in my area? I know they do that with new cars. As a matter of fact they did that to get me my IS250. I've never seen anyone ask this question so I would appreciate your input on this. Thanks!

Probably not. I don't think dealerships will do a "dealership trade or swap" of a used vehicle since these vehicles are owned by that individual dealership.
For new cars, sometimes they can do a swap when the two cars exchanged are exactly the same. Many years ago I wanted a particular Acura in WHITE. However, the dealership that gave me the best deal didn't have it a WHITE one so they went to the neighboring dealership and gave them a GREEN one and got me the WHITE one.
The funny thing about this was that the WHITE one that they took from the neighboring dealership was exactly the same car I wanted but that dealership didn't want to give it to me for the price I asked for. So I went to another dealership, negotiated a better price, and had them go pick up that same WHITE one.
Funny how things work.
